VOICE Calls using 7-1-1

Relay Utah 7-1-1 allows you to communicate with individuals in your life who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have difficulty speaking.

The Relay user places a call by dialing 7-1-1. Once the Communication Assistant (CA) answers, the Relay user provides the area code and telephone number of the person they wish to call.

The CA facilitates the call between both parties. What is typed by the Relay user, the CA voices to the Voice user. What the Voice user says, the CA types to the Relay user.

Helpful Tips:
Wait until you hear the CA say, “Go Ahead” to begin speaking. Talk as if you are speaking directly to the other person. Remember to end each exchange with “Go Ahead”. When you are ready to end your conversation, say “SK” or “stop keying”.

It’s a simple, easy, and effective way to communicate with friends, family, and businesses who are users of 7-1-1 Relay.

Hearing (Voice) users may also dial 1-888-735-5906 if unable to reach 7-1-1 directly.
